CHRIS "BIG DOG" DAVIS (T)

- UNSCRIPTED -

Two-time Grammy nominated producer Chris 'Big Dog' Davis is a rare gem. His musical background is extensive and he has 10 #1 jazz hits to his credit.

Chris Davis, fondly known as ‘Big Dog’ and a humble, gentle giant, hails from the city of Waterbury, CT. The middle son in a musical family where both his parents were professional singers, Chris began playing the piano in church at a very early age. Recognizing that he was a gifted young boy, his church awarded him a grand piano as an appreciation for his extraordinary talent. He worked with his teacher and mentor, Mrs. Grossman from age 5 to age 14. Consequently, she enrolled him into Yale University where he studied with Professor Wesley and was classically trained. Later, Chris studied with world-renowned saxophonist, Jackie McClean from the Hart School of Music. Chris’ musical genius has been compared to the likes of George Duke, Herbie Hancock and many other jazz greats in the industry.

Chris’ collaborations and production credits span a wide spectrum of artists such as gospel giant Kim Burrell, George Clinton, Chuck Loeb, Nelson Rangel, Marion Meadows, Najee, Will Downing, Phil Perry, Chante’ Moore and the late Vesta Williams, just to name a few. Chris has 5 #1 smooth jazz records to his credit and has appeared on the Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno and Rosie O'Donnell. Chris got his first big break as music director with Brian McKnight who he later went on to produce and as the saying goes “the rest is history.” When asked how he feels about being nominated, Chris replied “it is a very humbling experience and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a fine artist as Maysa.” Also to his credit, the music score for “Neshoba” an award winning documentary film about the events and attitudes in Neshoba County.

Davis will be backed by Gerald Veasley and band!
